Sutton Tools manufactures premium BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) button dies designed to cut new male/external threads on tapered pipes or fittings. These dies are standard tools for trade, industrial, and plumbing maintenance applications.
-
Thread Specification (1/8" x 28 TPI BSPT):
- Nominal Pipe Size: 1/8" (Note: This refers to the inner bore diameter of the pipe it is meant for, not the actual outer physical dimension of the thread).
- Pitch: 28 Threads Per Inch (TPI).
- Thread Form: BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper, also referred to as Rc or R form). It features a 55-degree thread angle and a 1:16 taper structural design to create liquid-tight mechanical seals when paired with a matching female thread.
-
Physical Tool Dimensions:
- Outer Diameter (OD): 2" (50.8 mm).
- Shape: Solid round circular design. It features precision-machined locating dimples on its outer rim to align perfectly with the locking screws of a standard guide handle.
-
Material Composition & Finish:
- Base Metal: High-grade Carbon Alloy Steel.
- Finish: Bright, uncoated finish to minimize friction and prevent material clogging during operation.
-
Application Limits:
- Optimized Materials: Designed strictly for non-ferrous metals (brass, copper, aluminum), mild carbon steels, and structural plastics.
- Critical Restrictions: According to Sutton Tools' engineering guidelines, carbon steel dies are classified for general-purpose workshop maintenance, plumbing clean-up, and DIY jobs. They are not suitable for cutting high-tensile stainless steel, precision production environments, or high-pressure, critical-safety structural piping.
