• M5: This indicates a Metric thread with a nominal outside diameter of 5 millimeters.
• 0.8: This is the thread pitch (0.8 mm), which is the precise distance from the peak of one thread to the peak of the next. For an M5 fastener, 0.8 mm is the standard coarse pitch.
