METRIC FINE BUTTON DIES SUTTON

Sutton Tools metric fine (MF) button dies are round threading tools engineered to cut or clear external threads on studs, bolts, and bars. They are manufactured in Carbon Steel (Tungsten Chrome Alloy) for general purpose DIY use.

• Solid Round Design: Built to slip easily into plain die stocks or adjustable guides without slipping under torque.
• Bright Finish: Uncoated, polished finish that reduces friction and prevents chips from welding to the teeth when working with softer materials.
• 60° Thread Angle: Formed to meet international ISO standard metric fine thread specifications

• M16 (Major Diameter): This designates that the tool cuts standard Metric threads onto a blank rod with a nominal outside diameter of 16mm.
• 1.5 (Pitch): This indicates a Metric Fine (MF) pitch where the distance from the crest of one thread to the next is exactly 1.5mm. By comparison, a standard Metric Coarse M16 thread has a steeper 2.0mm pitch. Fine pitches provide tighter holding strength and better vibration resistance. 
• Carbon (Material Tca): Manufactured from Tungsten Chrome Alloy Carbon Steel, this tool is polished to a bright finish. It is engineered primarily for general purpose DIY use, light maintenance, and chasing (cleaning) bruised threads. It is ideal for softer metals (aluminum, brass, copper) and plastics.
• Button Die (Shape & OD): This is a solid round die. For an M16 x 1.5 size, Sutton Tools maps this to their M405 series which features a standard 2" (50.8mm) Outer Diameter (OD)
